Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT)
Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) is a gentle, holistic, chiropractic technique that can be enjoyed by the whole family, and is the main adjusting technique utilised at Little Mountain Chiropractic. SOT is an effective method of caring for body pain and dysfunction within the musculoskeletal system.
SOT looks for patterns of relationship and dysfunction in the spine and body, rather than in a single area, and allows for comprehensive assessment and correction of the pelvis, spine, cranium and organ systems. The technique is so named for the important relationship between the base of the spine, the sacrum, and the base of the skull, the occiput.
Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) chiropractors understand the mechanics and neurology of the body in an organised and practical way. SOT integrates easily and seamlessly with other chiropractic systems, so practitioners can use several different techniques and approaches simultaneously to gather large amounts of information and then correct the underlying problem using effective, gentle and specific methods.
At Little Mountain Chiropractic pelvic blocks are used to balance the pelvis and restore normal function to the musculoskeletal system. We also incorporate Activator technique, Diversified Manual Adjusting and Cranial Specific Adjusting with Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) to allow our practitioners to cater for each individual, and every stage of life.
Cranial Chiropractic Technique
Cranio-sacral or Cranial Specific Technique is part of the approach of Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT). This involves gentle pressure applied to the skull in specific ways and over specific areas to release tension and improve function. The amount of pressure is similar to what you might tolerate on your closed eye. Because of the gentle nature of this technique, it is preferred by people who would rather not be ‘cracked’ and our experience is that this technique is also very suitable for young infants and children (when indicated).
